The mission of ADU Marin is to help homeowners build ADUs.
We are excited to announce a partnership with jurisdictions in Marin County to promote Accessory Dwelling Units.
Bay Area housing costs are at an all-time high, particularly in North Bay counties like Marin. Opportunities to build housing can be difficult to come by in our area, especially housing that is affordable to all, including the local workforce. Developing Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), or “Granny Flats”, is one important solution that can help meet our housing challenges.
ADU Marin is a partnership between ten cities and towns and the County of Marin. This work is supported by a grant awarded by the California Department of Housing and Community Development as part of the SB 2 Planning Grant Program.
The purpose of this partnership is to provide residents with clear information about the benefits of ADUs and the design, building, and planning process.
This includes a step-by-step workbook and interactive website with sample floor plans, a calculator to estimate constructions costs, and inspirational stories from Marin residents who have already built an ADU.
ADU Marin was by informed by the County’s Make Room for Marin website, which has been a resource for homeowners since 2018.
